A former BJ’s Wholesale Club building in the City of Tonawanda was acquired this month by wholesale distributor of auto parts.
Syracuse-based United Auto Supply paid $2.95 million to buy the 105,971-square-foot warehouse building at 800 Young St., according to Erie County Clerk records and Pyramid Brokerage Co., which handled the sale.
The 10.5-acre property, located near a Tops Friendly Markets store in the Youngmann Plaza just off the Twin Cities Memorial Highway, had been owned by CoTops Youngmann II NY LLC, but had been vacant since the big-box retailer left.
Founded in 1946, United Auto distributes original equipment, aftermarket automotive parts and accessories to independent installers, new car dealers, municipalities, heavy duty fleets and auto parts stores. The family-owned company operates 21 locations and 150 delivery vehicles, services over 5,000 accounts daily, and employs over 500.
According to Pyramid broker Robert H. Cowing III, United Auto plans to lease out about 70,000 square feet of space in the building to other tenants.
